We’re looking for an experienced Kitchen Porter to join our team at the Shell Centre in London. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and takes pride in maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness, hygiene and safety.

You’ll be an important part of the kitchen team, helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the operation while supporting your colleagues and maintaining a clean, safe and professional environment.

About the Role

As a Kitchen Porter, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness across the kitchen and associated areas. You’ll work as part of a busy team, ensuring that pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, glassware and equipment are cleaned and ready for use.

You’ll also support with basic food preparation and other kitchen duties, while ensuring that all Health & Safety, Food Safety, COSHH and company procedures are followed.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen, pot wash, stores and equipment.
  • Washing and cleaning pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, glassware and other kitchen equipment.
  • Operating dishwashing machinery safely and effectively.
  • Supporting the kitchen team with basic food preparation and minor kitchen tasks.
  • Keeping kitchen and storage areas clean, tidy and organised.
  • Checking and recording temperatures of chilled and frozen goods upon arrival.
  • Storing goods correctly using the First In, First Out (FIFO) system.
  • Following all Health & Safety, Food Safety, COSHH and fire safety procedures.
  • Reporting accidents, incidents, faulty equipment and any other concerns promptly.
  • Supporting colleagues in other areas when required.
  • Assisting with functions and events where necessary.
  • Completing handovers and relevant documentation.
  • Attending training and team meetings.
  • Working positively with colleagues to maintain excellent service standards.
  • Carrying out other reasonable duties as directed by management.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who is hard-working, motivated and takes pride in doing a job well.

  • Previous experience working in a busy, high-volume kitchen environment.
  • The ability to work well under pressure.
  • A strong understanding of hygiene and cleanliness standards.
  • A positive attitude towards learning and development.
  • The ability to use your own initiative.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • A flexible approach to the role.
  • High standards of personal hygiene, appearance and cleanliness.
  • Level 2 Food Safety qualification.
  • Level 2 Health & Safety qualification.

Desirable: Previous experience using commercial dishwashing machinery within a large-scale catering or hospitality operation.
