Job Description:

We are looking for a dedicated and reliable Housekeeper to join our team at HM Naval Base, Portsmouth, PO1 3HH.

As a Housekeeper, you'll play an important role in ensuring accommodation is clean, comfortable, welcoming and maintained to a high standard. You will be responsible for preparing and maintaining bedrooms and accommodation areas, ensuring they are ready for guests and residents, while delivering a friendly and professional service.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with previous housekeeping or accommodation cleaning experience, such as working in hotels, student accommodation, serviced apartments or private houses, who takes pride in creating clean, comfortable and well-presented spaces.

What You’ll Do:

  • Keep accommodation to a high standard: Clean and maintain bedrooms, bathrooms and communal accommodation areas, ensuring they are presented to a consistently high standard.
  • Prepare bedrooms and accommodation: Make beds, change and replenish linen, towels and other room supplies, ensuring rooms are clean, tidy and ready for occupancy.
  • Attention to detail: Carry out housekeeping duties thoroughly and efficiently, taking pride in ensuring every room and area is presented to the required standard.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene: Follow cleaning schedules and procedures to ensure all areas are clean, safe and hygienic, reporting any maintenance issues or damage when identified.
  • Manage supplies: Monitor and replenish housekeeping supplies, linen, towels, toiletries and cleaning products to ensure everything needed is available.
  • Work as part of a team: Participate in daily huddles, communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors, and work together to ensure all housekeeping requirements are completed.
  • Champion safety and well-being: Follow all health and safety procedures and report any hazards, incidents or issues promptly.
  • Provide a professional service: Interact with residents, guests, colleagues and armed forces personnel in a friendly, professional and courteous manner.

What You Bring:

  • Previous housekeeping or accommodation cleaning experience is desirable
  • Experience working in hotels, student accommodation, serviced apartments or private houses would be advantageous
  • Experience with bed making and changing bed linen
  • A good eye for detail and pride in maintaining high standards
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Friendly, professional and approachable manner
  • Ability to work efficiently and manage your workload
  • Reliable, organised and able to work as part of a team
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
  • Willingness to learn and follow procedures
  • A positive attitude and commitment to delivering a high-quality service
