Support Receptionist

• 18 hours per week
• This position provides ad-hoc cover for annual leave and absence within a reception service operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

• Shifts are 12 hours and will include a mixture of days, nights and weekends, depending on operational requirements.

At Sodexo, we’re looking for a Support Receptionist to provide ad-hoc cover within our Accommodation Reception team at HMNB Portsmouth, PO1 4QT.

Working within a busy Ministry of Defence environment, you’ll play an important role in helping us maintain a professional, welcoming and efficient reception service throughout the year. Providing essential cover for annual leave and absence, you’ll support the wider team and help ensure the reception continues to run smoothly and customers receive a consistently high level of service.

As one of the first points of contact, you’ll welcome customers, respond to enquiries and provide practical support with accommodation arrivals and departures. You’ll be someone who enjoys working with people, communicates confidently and can remain organised and professional in a varied environment.

What you’ll do:

• Provide professional and welcoming reception support within a busy accommodation environment.
• Support the reception team by providing cover for annual leave and absence.
• Welcome customers and assist with check-ins and check-outs.
• Prepare paperwork and documentation for new arrivals.
• Respond to enquiries at the reception desk and manage incoming telephone calls.
• Liaise effectively with internal and external customers.
• Maintain excellent customer and client relationships.
• Handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain strict confidentiality.
• Ensure effective communication with colleagues, customers and management.
• Maintain a clean, tidy and professional reception area.
• Follow all relevant company procedures, site requirements and health and safety standards.
• Attend relevant team briefings, meetings and training as required.

What You Bring:

• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• A friendly, professional and customer-focused approach.
• Strong organisation and time management skills.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications.
• Confidence communicating with a range of customers and colleagues.
• Ability to handle information discreetly and confidentially.
• Flexibility to work 12-hour shifts across days, nights and weekends.
• Previous experience of shift work would be beneficial but is not essential.
