This is more than a maintenance role. You'll play a vital part in ensuring thousands of students enjoy safe, comfortable and well-maintained living and learning environments. From student accommodation to academic buildings, your expertise will help keep essential services running smoothly while delivering an exceptional customer experience.

As a Plumber within our Hard FM Services team, you'll be responsible for delivering planned, reactive and compliance-related maintenance activities across the University estate.

What You’ll Do

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance on plumbing and mechanical systems

  • Diagnose and repair plumbing faults quickly and effectively

  • Maintain and repair hot and cold-water systems, sanitaryware, pipework, pumps, valves, taps and showers

  • Respond to emergency leaks, blockages, water outages and breakdownsSupport water hygiene and Legionella compliance programmes

  • Complete plumbing upgrades, replacements and minor installation projects

  • Update maintenance activities accurately using CAFM systems such as Maximo

  • Work professionally within occupied student residences and academic facilities

  • Participate in an on-call rota supporting a 24/7 operation

  • Support sustainability and water-efficiency initiatives across the estate

What You Bring

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 Plumbing & Heating, City & Guilds Level 3 Plumbing, or an equivalent recognised qualification
  • Water Regulations qualification or demonstrable equivalent competence
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Experience working in a planned and reactive maintenance environment
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills with the ability to resolve issues efficiently
  • Experience maintaining hot and cold-water systems, sanitaryware and associated distribution systems
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Good IT literacy and experience using CAFM or maintenance management systems
  • The ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a wider facilities management team

Desirable

  • Unvented Hot Water qualification
  • Legionella and Water Hygiene training
  • IPAF and PASMA certifications
  • First Aid at Work qualification
  • Experience working within universities, student accommodation, healthcare, hospitality or large-scale facilities management environments
  • Experience supporting refurbishment, lifecycle and minor works projects
