Our ethos is “Fresh Food from Scratch” so it is imperative to prepare and present food to the notified standard, ensuring the standard of “fresh food from Scratch” is followed.
Ensure all work areas and surfaces are clean and tidy as is always practical, especially at the end of the day/shift.
Serve customers in a quick, polite manner always ensuring good customer service
Replenish food and equipment to ensure an efficient and seamless service.
Clear and clean work areas after the service periods
Complete any administration as requested including food temperatures, cleaning schedules, delivery temperatures, stock takes etc.
Ensure that all food is prepared with due care and attention, particularly in regard to special dietary requirements, allergens and shelf life.
Ensure the kitchen is maintained in a clean, organized manner and all food safety and health and safety policies and procedures are followed.
Complete all cleaning schedules to the agreed standard.
Promote a friendly working relationship and great communication with colleagues.
Undertake training and comply with all company policies and procedures.
Raise any issues to the Head Chef or Catering Manager in a timely manner.
Report any incidents of accident, near miss, fire, loss, theft, damage, unfit food, or any other irregularities.
Work at school events, as required, with occasional evening and weekend work.
Assist with the setup, service, clearing and cleaning of function catering as requested.
Carry out any reasonable request by management
Assist in other local units as may be necessary in an emergency.
Essential
Experience cooking on a large scale (100–1300 students)
Experience in Catering environment
Experience following recipes in a professional kitchen
Prior staff supervision or line management experience
Strong knowledge of fresh produce and ingredient preparation
Understanding of health and safety regulations and the ability to enforce them
Ability to work under pressure in a busy kitchen environment
Positive leadership, professionalism, and a passion for food
Hold basic food handling certifications, including:
NVQ Level 2
Level 2 Food Safety Certificate
At least one year of hands-on cooking experience (Training in Food Hygiene and Health & Safety provided)
