The role is responsible for managing the full patient dining service, including special dietary requirements, menu development, stock management and budget accountability.

Job Introduction

This is more than a catering management role.

As our Patient Dining Manager, you'll play a key part in creating positive experiences for patients during their hospital stay while leading a dedicated team that genuinely cares about the service they provide. You'll be joining an established, supportive and highly engaged team at Wythenshawe Hospital where collaboration, innovation and customer service are at the heart of everything we do.

You'll have the opportunity to influence service delivery, develop your team, drive continuous improvement and make a meaningful difference in a busy healthcare environment. If you're passionate about people, operational excellence and delivering exceptional service, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day patient dining service, ensuring patients receive a high-quality meal experience every day.
  • Oversee menu planning, special dietary requirements and nutritional service delivery in partnership with clinical and dietary teams.
  • Inspire, coach and develop a diverse team, creating a positive culture focused on service excellence and teamwork.
  • Manage budgets, labour deployment, stock control and waste reduction to deliver an efficient and cost-effective operation.
  • Ensure full compliance with food safety, health and safety, company and Trust policies.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, colleagues and service users to continually enhance the patient dining experience.
  • Lead service improvements, champion innovation and introduce new ideas that improve quality and patient satisfaction.
  • Monitor operational performance, audits and customer feedback, implementing actions that drive continuous improvement.

What You Bring:

  • Experience managing a large-scale catering, hospitality or food service operation.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop high-performing teams within a customer-focused environment.
  • Strong financial awareness with experience managing budgets, labour costs and stock control.
  • A sound understanding of food safety, hygiene standards and health and safety compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A proactive and resilient approach, with the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
  • A genuine passion for customer service and improving the experience of patients, visitors and colleagues.
  • Experience within healthcare catering would be advantageous, but equally we're keen to hear from talented leaders from other hospitality and food service backgrounds.

Why Join Us?

At Wythenshawe Hospital, you'll be joining a fantastic team that is passionate about delivering outstanding service and making a real difference to patients every day. You'll be empowered to bring your ideas, develop your career and contribute to a service that has a direct impact on patient wellbeing.

If you're an enthusiastic leader who enjoys developing people, driving standards and creating exceptional dining experiences, this could be the perfect next step in your career.
