Royal Stoke University Hospital is seeking an experienced and results driven Senior Hard FM Manager to lead the operational delivery of Hard Facilities Management services within a complex PFI healthcare environment.

Reporting to the Head of Estates, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient management of the hospital's engineering and maintenance services, leading both in house teams and specialist contractors to deliver exceptional service standards.

This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of contract performance, statutory compliance, planned preventative maintenance programmes, and reactive service delivery, while driving continuous improvement and minimising contractual deductions and service unavailability. If you are a proactive leader with a strong technical background, commercial awareness, and a passion for delivering high performing FM services in a critical healthcare setting, we would love to hear from you.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the operational delivery of Hard FM services across a complex acute healthcare environment, ensuring safe, effective and compliant service provision.

  • Provide leadership and line management to multidisciplinary engineering teams covering Electrical, Mechanical, Ventilation, Water Decontamination, Building Fabric, BMS and Energy services.

  • Ensure full compliance with statutory legislation, healthcare regulations, contractual obligations and Health and Safety requirements across all Hard FM disciplines.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with NHS Trust stakeholders, service partners and senior client representatives to drive service excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Manage contract performance, KPIs and operational standards, ensuring services are delivered efficiently and contractual targets are consistently achieved.

  • Oversee planned and reactive maintenance activities, ensuring timely delivery of works to minimise service disruption, contractual deductions and operational risk.

  • Take responsibility for financial performance, supporting budget management, cost control, supplier management and identifying opportunities for operational efficiencies and value improvement.

  • Lead performance management, incident investigations, risk management and technical governance activities, driving a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and high quality service delivery.

What You Bring:

  • Qualified to HNC and HND standard in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering/Building Services or Building
  • Previous experience of management of FM Contracts and influence change where required, along with customer facing attitude and excellent team building / people management skills
  • Have experience in coaching and influence teams
  • Services management experience of people and commercial issues
  • Must satisfy a health check
  • Good communication skills with the mental agility to ‘think on feet’ and provide convincing practical solutions
  • Strong people management skills
  • Strong analytical skills with a strong bias towards P and L financial management
