Technical Facilities Manager

Sodexo is seeking an experienced Technical Facilities Manager to join our Justice Services team at HMP Peterborough. This is a key operational leadership role, supporting the safe, secure, and compliant delivery of Hard Facilities Management services within a live custodial environment.
Reporting to the Head of Facilities Management, you will support and deputise in their absence, leading the day-to-day delivery of maintenance services through in-house teams and specialist contractors. You will also play a vital role in the delivery of lifecycle, capital, and business-led projects, ensuring all statutory, contractual, and safety requirements are met.
This role offers a unique opportunity to make a real impact by ensuring the prison estate remains secure, fit for purpose, and supportive of HMP Peterborough’s rehabilitative objectives.
Support and deputise for the Head of Facilities Management, ensuring statutory compliance, PPM, lifecycle, capital, and FM-led projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to agreed quality standards.
Lead the operational delivery of Hard FM services through in-house maintenance teams and specialist contractors within a secure environment.
Oversee the CAFM system (Maximo), ensuring all reactive and planned maintenance activities meet statutory and contractual requirements.
Promote and maintain a strong Health & Safety culture, ensuring safe systems of work, risk assessments, and method statements are implemented and monitored.
Manage, support, and develop the maintenance team through effective line management, including 1:1s, performance reviews, engagement, and wellbeing initiatives.
Monitor quality, performance, and compliance through audits, inspections, reporting, and continuous improvement activities.
Proven experience managing people and services within a Total Facilities Management or Hard FM environment.
BIFM Level 4 qualification
or equivalent.
Trained in Health & Safety to IOSH Level II standard, with strong knowledge of statutory compliance and building regulations.
Demonstrable leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively at all organisational levels.
Strong IT literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and CAFM systems (e.g. Maximo).
Experience managing complex operations or projects within time-critical, 24/7 operational environments (e.g. prisons, hospitals, universities) is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will be subject to enhanced DBS and Ministry of Justice (MoJ) security vetting.
£48,000 – £51,000 per annum
