Enhanced Pay Rates

• Overtime for lone working on nights and weekends outside of regular hours: £19.66 per hour (time and a half)
• Bank Holidays: £26.22 per hour (double time)

As a Security Officer at Baker & Baker, you'll be the face of the company, working from the Gatehouse and providing a professional, welcoming and secure environment for staff, visitors, contractors and senior stakeholders.

This is a 50/50 day and night security role within a busy bakery manufacturing site. Alongside traditional security duties, you'll provide reception support, complete site administration, manage visitor and contractor access, support inductions and coordinate with different departments across the site.

Baker & Baker is one of Europe's leading bakery manufacturers, producing a wide range of sweet and savoury bakery products including cookies, doughnuts, muffins, brownies and pastries. The Wirral site is the UK headquarters and a major production site supplying customers across Europe.

You'll join a close-knit Sodexo security team consisting of four Security Officers and a Security Supervisor, with approximately two weeks of buddy training provided when you join.

What you'll do

• Be the welcoming and professional face of Baker & Baker at the Gatehouse
• Greet and sign in staff, visitors, contractors and drivers
• Carry out ID checks and ensure site access procedures are followed
• Issue security badges and site keys and maintain accurate registers
• Support reception duties, including answering and transferring calls when required
• Assist with visitor inductions and site administration
• Operate the weighbridge as required
• Carry out regular site patrols, usually completing one daily patrol or supporting the team when operational demands require
• Monitor CCTV in line with licensing requirements and regulations
• Respond promptly and professionally to emergency situations, including fire activations and first aid incidents
• Complete accurate incident reports and shift documentation
• Carry out the required safety checks and report hazards or potential hazards
• Coordinate with departments across site to organise deliveries and collections
• Ensure visitors, contractors and staff are following site requirements, including correct PPE
• Maintain a high level of security awareness and remain alert to protect the site and its assets
• Support reception out of hours when required
• Work closely with the Reception team to provide a seamless service
• Maintain confidentiality and professional discretion at all times
• Support colleagues and other areas of the contract when required
• Follow all Sodexo and client security, health & safety and site procedures
• Complete all required documentation accurately and be prepared for Sodexo and client audits

What you'll bring

• A valid SIA Licence – essential
• Previous experience working in a security role
• Full valid driving licence
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Confident and professional when dealing with customers, visitors and senior stakeholders
• Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with challenging situations
• Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills
• Ability to prioritise and manage your workload effectively
• Good computer skills, including confidence using Word and Excel
• Ability to follow instructions, policies and procedures
• Strong teamwork skills and a professional approach
• Reliable, punctual and well organised
• Comfortable working independently when required
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional discretion
• Flexible approach and willingness to support the wider team when required
• First Aid qualification

Desirable

• Previous experience in a corporate, manufacturing or industrial security environment
• Experience working in a Gatehouse or reception-based security role
• Experience with CCTV monitoring
• Experience completing security administration and incident reporting
• Experience managing visitor inductions and access control
• Knowledge of BS7858 requirements
