As a Receptionist with Sodexo at HMNB Portsmouth, PO1 4QT, you’ll play an important role in supporting the Accommodation Reception within a busy Ministry of Defence environment.

Working as part of a friendly and supportive reception team, you’ll help ensure the service runs smoothly around the clock, providing a professional and welcoming first point of contact for Naval personnel, visitors and colleagues using the accommodation services.

From welcoming arrivals and supporting accommodation check-ins and check-outs to answering enquiries, managing post and liaising with internal teams, you’ll be at the heart of the day-to-day reception operation. You’ll need to be organised, approachable and comfortable working independently, particularly during night and weekend shifts.

This is a great opportunity for someone with strong customer service skills who enjoys working with people and wants a part-time role with a regular fixed rota. Previous reception experience would be beneficial, but it isn't essential – if you have the right attitude and customer-focused approach, full training will be provided.

What you’ll do:

• Provide a friendly, professional and welcoming reception service to Naval personnel, visitors and colleagues.
• Meet and greet people arriving at reception and respond to general enquiries.
• Support accommodation arrivals and departures, including completing relevant paperwork and carrying out check-ins and check-outs.
• Answer incoming telephone calls and provide accurate information and assistance.
• Manage incoming and outgoing post as required.
• Liaise with the accommodation booking team, Navy accommodation teams and other internal and external customers.
• Maintain excellent customer and client relationships and communicate effectively with the wider team.
• Handle personal and sensitive information with discretion and strict confidentiality, following data protection and security requirements.
• Maintain a clean, tidy and professional reception environment.
• Follow all relevant Sodexo procedures, site requirements and health and safety standards.
• Support the wider reception operation, including additional overtime to cover annual leave or sickness where required.

What You Bring:

• A friendly, approachable and customer-focused manner.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organisation and time management skills.
• Confidence dealing with a variety of people and responding to enquiries professionally.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Outlook.
• The ability to work independently and use your initiative when required.
• Reliability and flexibility to work as part of a rota covering days, nights and weekends.
• The ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
• Previous experience within reception, hospitality, customer service or another customer-facing environment would be beneficial, but isn't essential.
• Previous experience of shift work would be advantageous.
• A willingness to learn – full training will be provided on the internal and MOD accommodation systems used within the role.
