Prison Custody Officer (PCO) - HMP Addiewell

No previous experience required, our comprehensive 8-week training program will swiftly bring you up to speed and furnish you with the necessary tools to excel in your role. From shadowing seasoned colleagues to mastering conflict resolution techniques, you'll be fully equipped for the challenges ahead.

Working as a Prison Custody Officer demands resilience, patience, and a strong sense of duty. It's not a role for the faint-hearted. You'll encounter individuals from diverse backgrounds, many of whom are facing significant challenges and grappling with the consequences of their actions. Your days will be filled with moments of tension, unpredictability, and occasional conflict.

Accepting both 40 hour full-time and 20 hour part-time applications (first 8 weeks of training will be 40 hours per week for both full-time and part-time).

  • Capable of working independently or as part of a team, delivering high-quality work without constant supervision.
  • Applicants for this position must possess excellent verbal and written English communication skills.

What We Offer: 

  • Starting salary of £30,446.00, rising to £36,456pa after 4 years’ service.
  • Both 40 hour full-time and 20 hour part-time roles available (First 8 weeks will be 40 hours per week of training even if part-time).
