Job Introduction
Job Purpose:
As the Sodexo Fire & DSEAR Advisor for the Leonardo Helicopters contract in Yeovil, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure comprehensive Fire Safety and DSEAR governance. Your role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining LHUK Fire Safety and DSEAR strategy, promoting a positive fire safety culture across the estate, and establishing a Fire Safety and DSEAR Management System for LHUK.
Key Job Accountabilities:
- Provide technical advice on fire safety management to all levels of management, staff, and consultants.
- Conduct Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) reviews to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Review and update FRA action plans and recommendations.
- Prepare FRAs for refurbishment projects and new buildings.
- Coordinate DSEAR Risk Assessments and ensure appropriate control measures.
- Attend meetings to present reports, provide guidance, and answer questions on fire safety.
- Investigate root causes of fires and propose risk reduction measures.
- Maintain knowledge of fire safety legislation and regulations.
- Act as the principal point of contact for petroleum licensing activities.
- Support the Business with fire insurance visits and consultations.
- Establish and maintain relationships with Fire and Rescue Services and LHUK Fire Service.
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Professional certifications in Fire Risk Assessment or Fire Safety (CFPA, NEBOSH Fire Certificate, Level 4 Diploma).
- Minimum GIFireE qualification or equivalent with a background in Fire Safety Management.
- Membership of relevant bodies (e.g., NAHFO, IFE, IFSM, IOSH).
- Experience conducting Fire Risk Assessments and inspections.
- Experience in Hazardous Area Classification
- Detailed knowledge of relevant fire safety legislation and regulations.
- Experience with DSEAR/ATEX Risk Assessments and hazardous area classification.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of UK Statutory Regulations in Health, Safety & Environment.
- Ability to engage effectively with people internally and externally
- At least 10 years’ experience, of which 5 must have involved the responsibility for carrying out DSEAR and Fire Risk Assessments
- A team player who can demonstrate a collaborative style of working that enhances business/project performance
