Job Description:
We’re looking for an experienced and professional Head Steward to lead the dining room and associated areas, ensuring a first-class service is delivered across daily dining and functions.
You’ll supervise, train and organise the dining room team, ensuring excellent customer service, high standards of presentation and cleanliness, and full compliance with food safety and Health & Safety requirements.
What You’ll Do
- Supervise, organise and train colleagues within the dining room and associated areas.
- Deliver a high standard of front-of-house service in line with client requirements.
- Ensure service timings and standards are consistently maintained.
- Lead by example, maintaining professional conduct and high standards of personal presentation.
- Support and develop team members, encouraging ideas and improvements.
- Ensure safe working practices and compliance with Food Safety and Health & Safety requirements.
- Monitor cleaning schedules and maintain high standards across front and back of house areas.
- Complete and check relevant documentation to ensure procedures are followed correctly.
- Report equipment defects, deficiencies and breakages promptly to the Mess Manager.
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of functions and special events.
- Continue to develop your skills and knowledge within the Head Steward role.

- Works well as part of a team and can support and motivate colleagues.
- Has strong communication and organisational skills.
- Understands the importance of Food Safety, Health & Safety and cleanliness standards.
- Is confident supervising and supporting team members.
- Maintains a high standard of personal presentation and professional conduct.
Desirable
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Silver Service training or experience.
