General Services Manager

Wales LL17 0LL - Full time

We are currently seeking a dedicated and dynamic General Services Manager to join our team and play a key role in driving excellence and innovation.

As a General Services Manager you'll

  • Lead the delivery of integrated facilities management services, including catering, cleaning, security and wider facilities operations.
  • Inspire, lead and develop your teams, creating a positive, high-performing culture focused on excellent service.
  • Take ownership of day-to-day operations, ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently and consistently to agreed standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders, acting as a trusted point of contact and ensuring expectations are understood and exceeded.
  • Regularly review service delivery, identifying opportunities to improve quality, customer experience and operational performance.
  • Take responsibility for financial performance, including budgets, forecasting, labour costs, stock, invoicing and cost control.
  • Monitor performance against financial and operational targets, taking appropriate action where improvements are required.
  • Lead on Health & Safety, food safety, security and compliance, ensuring statutory and company requirements are consistently achieved.
  • Ensure appropriate food safety and HACCP controls are maintained across catering operations.
  • Oversee security operations, ensuring incidents are managed, reported and followed up appropriately.
  • Work closely with cleaning management to ensure services are effectively resourced and consistently delivered.
  • Monitor service standards through regular site walks, audits, performance reviews and customer feedback.
  • Recruit, induct, coach and develop colleagues, ensuring teams have the skills and support they need to succeed.
  • Manage performance effectively, setting clear objectives and providing regular feedback and development opportunities.
  • Drive continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity and service quality.
  • Identify opportunities for growth and additional services while protecting the commercial performance of the contract.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, suppliers and contractors to deliver an outstanding service.
  • Maintain a visible, hands-on leadership presence, providing operational support when required

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience in a General Services Manager, Facilities Manager, Soft Services Manager or similar operational leadership role.
  • Strong experience managing multiple services, ideally across catering, cleaning, security and facilities management.
  • A proven track record of leading, motivating and developing operational teams.
  • Strong client and stakeholder relationship management skills.
  • Good commercial and financial awareness, including experience managing budgets, forecasts, labour costs and financial performance.
  • Experience working within a regulated and compliance-focused environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and operational compliance.
  • IOSH qualification or equivalent.
  • Food Safety Level 3.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • The confidence to manage challenging situations and make effective operational decisions.
  • Experience managing performance and supporting colleague development.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and identifying opportunities for growth.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • A resilient, adaptable and hands-on leadership style.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy operational environment.
