We’re looking for a warm, proactive and service‑driven Ward Host to join our team at Nuffield Health Oxford Hospital on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. In this role, you’ll help create a calm, welcoming environment for patients while ensuring they receive nutritious, well‑presented meals that support their recovery.

What you’ll be doing

  • Preparing and serving patient meals in a hygienic, safe and organised manner
  • Engaging with patients to ensure they feel comfortable, supported and well cared for
  • Communicating clearly with the kitchen team to ensure all food orders are accurate and timely
  • Keeping the ward pantry clean, tidy and compliant with all hygiene and safety standards
  • Supporting the Ward Host Manager and Supervisor to meet service level agreements and health & safety requirements
  • Completing all required audit and quality documentation
  • Ensuring individual dietary needs are understood and catered for
  • Carrying out ad‑hoc duties to support the smooth running of the service

  • High levels of client and patient satisfaction
  • Achieving a green Safeguard audit rating
  • Maintaining a 5‑star food hygiene rating

What you’ll bring

Essential

  • Confident communication skills
  • A friendly, customer‑focused approach
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Good literacy and numeracy
  • Understanding of hygiene, safety and relevant legislation
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately

Desirable

  • Food Hygiene Level 2 or above
