Location: Reading
Contract: Permanent – Part Time 27.5 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 2:00pm
Rate of Pay: £13.47 per hour

About the role

We are looking for a friendly, reliable and customer-focused Food Service Assistant to join our Sodexo team at the Johnson Matthey site in Reading.

This is a varied catering role where you will help deliver a high-quality food service to employees and guests. You’ll be part of a supportive team and will play an important role in ensuring our food service areas are welcoming, well-presented and operated to high standards of food safety, hygiene and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver friendly, professional food service to employees and guests
• Prepare and serve food, including salads and hot and cold desserts
• Maintain clean, safe and well-presented kitchen and service areas
• Follow food safety, allergen, hygiene, health and safety, and COSHH procedures
• Complete temperature checks, allergen records and other food safety documentation
• Assist with stock management and stocktakes
• Support the wider catering team during busy periods and as required

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience within catering, hospitality or food service
• A customer-focused approach with good interpersonal and communication skills
• Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures
• The ability to work effectively in a busy, fast-paced environment
• Good organisation and time-management skills
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• A flexible approach and willingness to support different areas of the catering operation
