Faith Services Team Leader

HMP Addiewell | Salary - £40,000 Per Annum

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Faith Services Team Leader (Reformed Tradition) to join our multi‑faith Chaplaincy Team at HMP Addiewell. You will provide religious, pastoral and spiritual care to people in custody, offering support to individuals of all faiths and none, while leading the Faith Services team and contributing to rehabilitation and wellbeing across the prison.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead worship, teaching and religious services within the Reformed Tradition.
  • Provide pastoral and spiritual support to individuals, including those who are vulnerable or in crisis.
  • Offer bereavement and crisis care, including support following a Death in Custody.
  • Provide inclusive support to individuals of all beliefs.
  • Coordinate chaplaincy volunteers and faith‑based activities.
  • Build links with external faith groups to support reintegration on release.
  • Lead, support and develop Faith Services team members.

Essential

  • Ordained Minister, Ordained Local Minister, Deacon or Elder of the Reformed Tradition, in good standing (confirmation required).
  • Qualification in a theological or pastoral subject (SCQF Level 8 or equivalent).
  • Experience leading worship in a community setting.
  • Significant pastoral care experience with diverse groups.
  • Experience providing spiritual care to people of all faiths and none.
  • Awareness of the Scottish Criminal Justice context.
  • Strong communication, listening and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and work collaboratively.

Desirable

  • Experience working within a custodial, healthcare, social care or crisis‑support setting.
  • Experience supervising or developing staff or volunteers.
  • Familiarity with multi‑faith environments or interfaith work.
