Are you someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards, enjoys working in a hands-on role, and thrives on helping others? We're looking for a Facilities Support Assistant to join our team at Trinity Square Student Accommodation in Gateshead.
This is a varied and rewarding weekend position where no two days are the same. You'll play a key role in ensuring our student accommodation remains clean, safe, compliant and welcoming, while also supporting our on-site café and wider operational team.
What You’ll Do:
As a Facilities Support Assistant, you'll be involved in a wide range of duties, including:
- Carrying out scheduled water flushing and maintaining accurate compliance records
- Supporting water hygiene procedures and reporting any issues promptly
- Maintaining external grounds, courtyards, pathways and communal outdoor areas
- Litter picking, waste management and ensuring the site remains presentable
- Cleaning and maintaining communal internal areas, including corridors, stairwells, entrances and shared facilities
- Identifying and reporting defects, hazards and maintenance issues
- Supporting the operation of the on-site café, serving customers and maintaining hygiene standards
- Completing food safety and temperature checks
- Assisting during student arrivals, departures, open days and busy operational periods
- Providing friendly support and guidance to students, visitors and contractors
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an excellent student experience
What You Bring:
Essential
- Experience in facilities support, caretaking, cleaning, grounds maintenance or a similar hands-on role
- A proactive and practical approach to work
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively
- Friendly, approachable and customer-focused attitude
- Basic IT skills for completing records and reporting issues
- Ability to carry out physical duties both indoors and outdoors
- Willingness to undertake training in areas such as water hygiene, COSHH and food safety
Desirable
- Experience of water flushing programmes and compliance record keeping
- Student accommodation, facilities management or property experience
- Grounds maintenance or waste management experience
- Café, hospitality or customer service experience
- First Aid, Food Safety, COSHH or Health & Safety qualifications
