What you'll do

  • Lead, support, and motivate the cleaning team, ensuring all cleaning activities are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
  • Work alongside the team to deliver both scheduled and reactive cleaning services, providing cover during periods of absence when required.
  • Plan daily workloads, prepare staff rotas, and coordinate cleaning schedules to ensure excellent service delivery across the site.
  • Monitor cleaning standards through regular inspections and audits, using electronic management systems to track performance and complete actions.
  • Ensure all cleaning operations comply with company policies, client requirements, Health & Safety legislation, COSHH, and safe systems of work.
  • Maintain compliance records, training matrices, and certification requirements, ensuring mandatory training is completed and kept up to date.
  • Manage stock levels of cleaning consumables, chemicals, PPE, and equipment, carrying out regular stock checks and ordering supplies when required.
  • Support the development and review of Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), and COSHH documentation to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Promote a positive health & safety culture by identifying hazards, reporting incidents, and encouraging safe working practices.
  • Monitor and maintain cleaning equipment, including automated and robotic cleaning machines, arranging repairs where necessary.
  • Build positive relationships with clients, contractors, and colleagues, responding professionally to requests and resolving issues promptly.
  • Coach, support, and develop team members through regular feedback, guidance, and on-the-job training.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance cleaning standards, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

What you'll bring

  • Previous supervisory experience within a cleaning, facilities management, or soft services environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan workloads, prioritise tasks, and manage competing demands.
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety, COSHH, Risk Assessments, and safe working practices.
  • Experience managing compliance records, audits, inspections, and training documentation.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and electronic management systems to monitor performance and maintain accurate records.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with clients, contractors, and colleagues.
  • Strong customer service skills with a proactive approach to resolving issues and exceeding expectations.
  • Good understanding of stock control, cleaning equipment, consumables, and resource management.
  • A hands-on, flexible approach with the willingness to support the team whenever needed.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining exceptional cleaning standards.
  • A positive, solutions-focused mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
