Wellington College
Days/Shift Pattern: 5 out of 7 days, including weekends
Working Hours: 7:00am – 3:30pm & 2:00pm – 10:30pm
Total Hours Per Week: 40 hours
Salary: £14.05 per hour, with excellent benefits

About the Role

As a V&A Café Supervisor, you will support the smooth running of the café operation, ensuring exceptional food and beverage service is delivered every day. You will supervise and motivate the team, maintain high standards of service and food safety, and help create a welcoming environment for all customers.

Working closely with the V&A Café Manager and Deputy Café Manager, you will help drive continuous improvement, support café promotions, and ensure the team consistently delivers a first-class experience.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading, motivating and supporting the café team to deliver excellent service standards.
• Supervising daily food and beverage operations to ensure quality, efficiency and consistency.
• Delivering outstanding customer service and building positive relationships with students, colleagues and visitors.
• Supporting café management with promotions, service improvements and operational changes.
• Monitoring food safety, hygiene, allergen management and HACCP procedures.
• Ensuring food is prepared, presented and served safely and to the highest standards.
• Supporting stock control, ordering, cash handling and administrative processes.
• Conducting team briefings, coaching colleagues and supporting staff development.
• Deputising for the Café Manager or Deputy Manager when required.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about hospitality and enjoys creating great customer experiences.

You will ideally have:

• Experience working in a café, hospitality, catering or food service environment.
• Experience supervising or supporting a small team.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to motivate others.
• Excellent customer service skills and a positive, proactive approach.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage priorities in a busy environment.
• Confidence using computer systems, tills and other digital platforms.
• An understanding of food safety, hygiene and allergen management.

Desirable experience:

• Barista experience.
• Experience working in an educational or high-volume catering environment.
• Experience supporting service improvements and implementing change.
• Food Hygiene and Health & Safety qualifications.
