Maintenance Craftsperson

Job Introduction

Role Responsibility

As a Maintenance Craftsperson you will be responsible for:

 

  • Ensuring the safe delivery of maintenance systems on site
  • All aspects of Health and Safety compliance within requirements of risk assessments, COSHH Assessments, Safe Systems of Work, Audit actions and any other Health & Safety matters as they arise
  • Maintaining records in line with company procedures, including maintenance of the Integrated Management System
  • Keeping work areas in a clean and tidy condition to ensure minimum disruption to the building occupants and a safe working environment
  • Understanding the Sodexo and client process for issue, closure and updating of permits (Isolation / Hot Works / Height Works / Permit to Work)
  • Accurate completion and population job sheets, consumables used, and records & cost.
  • Building professional relationships with all stakeholders on the contract
  • Attending courses and "toolbox talks" where and as required
  • Carrying out any other reasonable tasks as directed or requested by Sodexo and act on the client's behalf to ensure the contract requirements are managed and remain statutorily compliant
  • Liaising and assistance with supervision when Sodexo have visiting specialist sub-contractors and other visiting disciplines, ensuring efficient operation of the plant without disruption to the occupants and adherence of health and safety procedures

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate for this role will have:

 

  • Strong organisational, communication and team working skills
  • A high level of presentation and a flexible approach to the working environment
  • Hold a City & Guilds electrical qualification or have a qualification as a gas safe registered commercial gas engineer
  • Basic Plumbing skills
  • Joinery skills
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of decorating and decorating industry best practice
  • IOSHH Managing Safely
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Computer literacy – Excel / Microsoft Project / Outlook & Lotus Notes / SAP
  • Awareness of job costing and basic planning and scheduling skills would be advantageous

Package Description

We currently have an opportunity for a Maintenance Craftsperson with a mechanical bias to join our team.

The successful candidate for this role will have served a recognised mechanical maintenance / installation apprenticeship and hold a City and Guilds in heating and ventilation with pipe fitting and welding experience.

As a mechanical maintenance craftsperson you will be responsible for the following:

Ensuring mechanical maintenance is carried out on site whilst ensuring compliance with the requirements of risk assessments, COSHH assessments, safe systems of work with regard to pressure systems.

The operation of various Building Management systems whilst ensuring minimum disruption to the building occupants.

To understand the Sodexo and client process for issue, closure and updating of permits with regard to pressure systems, hot works etc.

Accurate completion of job sheets, consumables used and records updated.

The attendance of both statutory and job specific courses where and when required as directed by Sodexo.

To ensure that any maintenance procedures are carried out inline with statutory compliance.

The participation of a mechanical systems on-call rota system.

Assistance with specialist sub-contractors and other visiting disciplines, ensuring efficient operation of the plant without disruption to the occupants and adherance of health and safety procedures.
