IDTS Healthcare Assistant

Job Introduction

Key aspects of the post:

  • Under the supervision of an IDTS nurse the post holder will assist nurses and CARAT workers in the delivery and development of substance misuse services within national guidelines
  • In line with Forest Bank policies assist with patients clinical care including specimen collection, activities of daily living, observing patients, reporting and recording information.
  • Be an active member of the IDTS team.
  • Accurately assess the prisoners using the appropriate screening tools and ensure all information is accurately recorded on the relevant prisoner medical records.
  • Maintain accurate records and report on all activities undertaken.
  • Undertaking interventions consistent with evidence based practice, transferring and applying knowledge and skills to meet client needs as directed by a trained nurse.
  • Be willing to participate in one to one interventions or within a group setting.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, which will include weekends, evenings and nights on a 7- day a week rota.
  • Complete all documentation to a high standard maintaining accurate and up to date records.
  • Contribute to IDTS data records.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have the ability to manage, organise and prioritise their workload.

To have a range of skills relevant to working with other professionals and offenders, including interpersonal skills, team working, record keeping and communication.

Desirable

Experience and knowledge of working with substance users.
