As a Casual Waste Operative with Sodexo, you'll enhance the services of our vibrant corporate site, offering a helping hand to ensure flawless facilities operations and keep things running smoothly.

What you'll do

  • Collect and transport a variety of waste streams, including manufacturing, domestic, and recyclable waste from across the site.
  • Operate a Teletruck, forklift truck, ride-on sweepers, and other waste handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Carry out daily inspections and safety checks on Teletrucks, forklifts, and waste handling equipment, reporting any defects promptly.
  • Ensure waste is correctly segregated and disposed of in line with site procedures and environmental standards.
  • Support the site's recycling initiatives by encouraging sustainable waste management practices.
  • Move materials, waste containers, and equipment safely around the site using appropriate machinery.
  • Clean waste bins, containers, work areas, machinery, and factory yards to maintain a safe and tidy environment.
  • Carry out minor repairs to waste bins and equipment where required.
  • Respond to scheduled and reactive waste collection requests, ensuring services are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Report hazards, equipment faults, and incorrect waste disposal, helping to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Follow all Health & Safety, COSHH, environmental, and company procedures at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver a reliable, efficient, and customer-focused waste management service

What you'll bring

  • A current Industrial Teletruck Licence is essential.
  • Previous experience in a waste management, industrial, manufacturing, warehouse, logistics, or facilities management environment is desirable.
  • Experience operating Teletrucks, forklifts, or other material handling equipment safely.
  • A good understanding of waste segregation, recycling, and environmental best practices.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Good IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office applications.
  • A proactive and reliable approach with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good awareness of Health & Safety, COSHH, and safe working practices.
  • The ability to work independently while managing your workload effectively.
  • A flexible approach with a willingness to support operational requirements and changing priorities
