About the role

Shape the Future of Healthcare Estates

Sodexo is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Technical Manager to lead the delivery of Hard FM services at Wythenshawe Hospital — a complex, high-profile acute healthcare environment. This is not just an operational role. We are looking for a strategic leader who can drive performance, lead compliance excellence, and influence stakeholders across a multi-partner PFI contract landscape. You will play a key role in ensuring that critical estate services are not only maintained but continually improved to support outstanding patient care.

What You’ll Be Driving

  • Strategic service delivery: Lead the optimisation of PPM and reactive maintenance programmes to improve service efficiency, asset performance, and contract outcomes.
  • Compliance & governance leadership: Ensure full statutory compliance across the estate, embedding best practice aligned to HTMs, HBNs, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Stakeholder influence: Build trusted relationships with NHS Trust representatives, Project Co, and internal teams to deliver aligned, high-performing services.
  • Performance & continuous improvement: Use data, KPIs, and audit outcomes to identify improvement opportunities and drive measurable service enhancements.
  • People leadership: Develop and lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams, fostering capability, accountability, and a strong safety culture.
  • Contract and commercial awareness: Operate effectively within a PFI framework, understanding risk, compliance obligations, and service delivery requirements.

Why This Role Stands Out

This is a strategic influence role within a major healthcare contract, offering you the opportunity to:

  • Shape how technical services are delivered across a live hospital environment
  • Lead compliance across critical infrastructure and life safety systems
  • Influence long-term asset management and lifecycle planning decisions
  • Partner directly with senior stakeholders across Sodexo, the Trust, and PFI partners

What We’re Looking For

We’re keen to speak to candidates who bring both technical depth and strategic capability, including:

  • A recognised qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Engineering
  • Proven experience managing Hard FM services within a complex environment (healthcare highly desirable).
  • Strong understanding of statutory compliance, HTMs, and safe systems of work
  • Experience operating within PFI or similar contract frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage subcontractors, and deliver through others
  • A proactive, solution-led mindset with the confidence to challenge and improve existing ways of working

Success in This Role Looks Like

  • 100% statutory compliance across all technical services
  • High-performing maintenance delivery against KPIs
  • Strong, collaborative client and stakeholder relationships
  • A culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence

What You’ll Get in Return

  • The opportunity to lead within a mission-critical healthcare environment
  • Exposure to complex estates and major infrastructure systems
  • A role with genuine strategic impact and visibility
  • Career development within a leading global FM provider

Ready to Make an Impact?
