As a Sous Chef with Sodexo at Nuffield Health Parkside Hospital site, you’ll play an important role in delivering high-quality, nutritious and beautifully presented meals for patients, staff and visitors. You’ll help lead the kitchen team, coordinate daily fresh food production and ensure every meal meets our high standards for quality, safety and special dietary requirements. With your culinary expertise, strong organisation and passion for great service, you’ll help create a positive dining experience that makes a real difference to patients and their wellbeing. What you’ll do

• Lead and support the kitchen team in preparing and delivering high-quality meals for patients, staff and restaurant services.
• Coordinate daily food production, ensuring meals are prepared accurately and in line with agreed menus and special dietary requirements.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene and safety, completing all required checks and records.
• Support effective stock control, ordering and portion management, helping to maintain availability while managing food costs.
• Work closely with the Chef Manager and wider team to deliver an efficient, customer-focused service and respond to changing daily requirements.
• Support and develop the kitchen team through effective supervision, training and leading by example.
• Ensure kitchen operations meet all relevant hospital, company and legislative standards, including HACCP, COSHH, temperature controls and audit requirements.

What you bring

• Previous experience in a similar Sous Chef or Senior Chef role, ideally within a busy, high-volume catering environment.
• Excellent culinary, craft and presentation skills, with pride in producing consistently high-quality food.
• Good knowledge of food hygiene and safety, with a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
• Strong communication and customer service skills, with a professional and approachable manner.
• Good financial awareness, including an understanding of food costs, stock control, portion management and working within budgets.
• Strong IT and computer skills, including confidence using systems such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Good written and spoken English, with strong organisation, attention to detail and the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
