About the Role
We're looking for a proactive School Cleaning Charge Hand to support the Contract Manager and Cleaning Manager in delivering a high-quality cleaning service.
You'll lead by example, supervise the cleaning team, and help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment that meets both Sodexo and client standards.
What You'll Do
- Support the day-to-day delivery of cleaning services.
- Supervise and support the cleaning team.
- Maintain high cleaning standards across the site.
- Help manage the contract to agreed quality and performance targets.
- Promote and monitor Health & Safety compliance.
- Carry out regular quality checks and support team performance.
- Assist with ECAT audits, safety walks and near miss reporting.
- Ensure cleaning equipment is safe, maintained and reported if faulty.
- Follow and promote COSHH procedures and safe chemical use.
- Support cleaning schedules and ensure tasks are completed on time.
- Deliver excellent customer service to staff, pupils and visitors.
- Respond to customer feedback and escalate issues where needed.
- Report accidents, incidents or damage promptly.
- Provide cover during holidays and sickness when required.
- Attend training and team meetings, sharing key updates with colleagues.
- Complete additional reasonable duties as requested by management, including occasional overtime.
What You'll Bring
Essential
- Experience in the cleaning or housekeeping industry.
- Previous experience supervising a team.
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety and safe working practices.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- A professional approach with high standards of personal presentation.
- Good understanding of modern cleaning methods and equipment.
