Receptionist

York - Part time

As a Receptionist with Sodexo, you'll be the welcoming face of our vibrant corporate site, offering a helping hand to ensure flawless workplace operations and shape that all-important guest experience. Enjoy a role where you’ll love what you do.

What you'll do

  • Act as the first point of contact for visitors, guests, and building users, delivering a professional and welcoming experience at all times.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by assisting with enquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring visitors are directed appropriately.
  • Manage reception and visitor services, including visitor registration, access control, badge management, and host notifications.
  • Answer telephone and switchboard calls professionally, ensuring queries are handled efficiently and accurately.
  • Support room booking enquiries and provide facilities support to building users and clients.
  • Maintain visitor management systems and ensure all security procedures and site access requirements are followed.
  • Conduct regular checks of reception and office areas, ensuring a professional, safe, and welcoming environment.
  • Monitor and maintain stationery points and other workplace support services across the building.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, contractors, suppliers, and colleagues to ensure a seamless service experience.
  • Log, track, and escalate service requests through the helpdesk system, ensuring issues are resolved promptly.
  • Monitor service performance and identify recurring issues, escalating concerns and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide administrative support to the Facilities Management team, maintaining accurate records, reports, and documentation.
  • Ensure health & safety procedures, site policies, and security requirements are adhered to at all times.
  • Support wider workplace and facilities services as required to ensure the smooth running of operations.

What you'll bring

  • A customer-focused professional with a passion for delivering exceptional service and creating positive customer experiences.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a confident and professional manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with clients, visitors, contractors, and colleagues.
  • Previous experience in a customer service, reception, workplace, facilities, hospitality, or helpdesk environment is desirable.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • A proactive and resilient approach with the ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications and workplace systems.
  • A professional appearance and exceptional telephone manner.
  • Good understanding of workplace security, visitor management, and health & safety practices.
  • A reliable, trustworthy, and positive individual with a flexible and hands-on approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while remaining accountable for individual responsibilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the confidence to escalate issues appropriately and drive resolutions.
  • A can-do attitude and commitment to continuously improving the customer experience.
