Make a Difference Every Day

Are you passionate about helping people make positive, lasting changes to their lives? We're looking for a motivated and committed Programme Facilitator to join our Offending Behaviour Programmes Unit at HMP Northumberland.

In this rewarding role, you'll deliver accredited offending behaviour programmes that support individuals in addressing the attitudes, thinking patterns and behaviours linked to offending. Working as part of a dedicated rehabilitation team, you'll help create opportunities for meaningful change, contributing to safer communities and reduced reoffending.

About the Role

As a Programme Facilitator, you will deliver accredited interventions to the required national standards, ensuring programmes are delivered in line with OSIG requirements, audit expectations and relevant Prison Service Instructions (PSIs) and Prison Service Orders (PSOs).

You'll build positive therapeutic relationships with participants, facilitate group sessions, complete assessments and reports, and work collaboratively with colleagues to support individuals throughout their rehabilitation journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver accredited offending behaviour programmes to trained standards.
  • Attend all mandatory core skills and programme-specific training.
  • Conduct motivational and responsivity interviews before programme selection.
  • Deliver one-to-one sessions where required.
  • Prepare for and facilitate group sessions.
  • Complete session plans, debriefs and programme administration accurately and within required timescales.
  • Produce high-quality, objective and non-judgemental post-programme reports.
  • Attend supervision sessions and post-programme reviews.
  • Promote a positive, supportive and therapeutic learning environment.
  • Act as a positive role model for participants.
  • Work closely with OMU and OASys colleagues to support offender management.
  • Ensure Equality, Diversity and Inclusion principles are embedded in all aspects of programme delivery.
  • Deliver interventions in accordance with national guidance, contractual requirements and audit standards.

What You'll Bring

Essential

  • An interest in facilitating group-based interventions.
  • A genuine commitment to supporting people to make positive behavioural change.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver structured learning sessions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive professional relationships.
  • Confidence working independently and using your own initiative.
  • Experience or willingness to work collaboratively with offender management teams.
  • Commitment to promoting pro-social goals that support successful resettlement.
  • Ability to develop and deliver programmes in line with OSMG/NOMS guidance, audit requirements and contractual standards.

Desirable

  • Experience working with individuals who need support to change thinking and behaviour.
  • Knowledge of offending behaviour interventions or treatment models.
  • Vocational qualifications or competencies relating to offending behaviour.
  • Understanding of the range of rehabilitation and treatment services available within the criminal justice sector.

What Success Looks Like

In this role, your work will directly contribute to:

  • Delivering high-quality accredited offending behaviour programmes.
  • Supporting participants to reduce their risk of reoffending.
  • Promoting rehabilitation and successful resettlement.
  • Maintaining compliance with national standards, audits and contractual requirements.
  • Creating a safe, respectful and inclusive therapeutic environment.
