We are seeking a motivated and committed Prison Offender Manager (POM) to join our team. This is an opportunity to play a vital role in offender management, supporting rehabilitation, protecting the public and helping prisoners make positive, lasting changes.
As a Prison Offender Manager, you will manage a designated caseload of male or female prisoners, driving sentence progression and ensuring that risks are appropriately assessed and managed throughout custody and into the community.
Working in line with the HMPPS Offender Management in Custody (OMiC) Model, you will collaborate with colleagues, probation services and a wide range of internal and external partners to deliver effective offender management, sentence planning and resettlement support.
You will receive line management support from the Head of Offender Management Services (HOMS) and/or the Probation Service Head of Offender Management Delivery (HOMD), alongside structured training and development during your first 6–9 months in the role.
Conduct initial interviews and assess the risks and needs of prisoners entering custody.

Ensure public protection and safeguarding procedures are followed in accordance with relevant guidance.
Liaise with prison colleagues, probation services and external stakeholders to gather and share relevant information.
Support pre-release planning, resettlement activities and effective handovers to community probation teams.
Prepare parole and recall documentation, MAPPA reports and prisoner categorisation recommendations.
Complete Release on Temporary Licence (ROTL) risk assessments.
Work with Home Office Immigration Enforcement in relation to foreign national prisoners, including relevant documentation and signposting to appropriate support.
Set meaningful goals and targets that encourage positive behavioural change, reduce reoffending and minimise the risk of harm to others.
Support rehabilitation provision, including non-accredited programmes and interventions.
Support remand and unsentenced prisoners with complex needs, helping them navigate the justice process and access relevant services.
Where resources and capacity allow, contribute to Safer Custody initiatives aimed at reducing violence and self-harm and improving rehabilitative outcomes.
We are looking for someone who is committed to professional development, can build positive working relationships and has the confidence to motivate individuals to make meaningful changes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to build positive professional relationships across the prison.
Strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to engage, motivate and encourage prisoners to change.

Knowledge of HMPPS and Sodexo policies, procedures and Offender Management Unit (OMU) audit processes.
An understanding of the wider criminal justice system.
Experience working in an environment where accuracy, attention to detail and compliance are essential.
The ability to challenge inappropriate behaviour professionally and constructively, promoting positive change while maintaining the safety of prisoners and staff.
