  • Maintain and repair key hospital infrastructure, including electrical systems, generators, HVAC, water systems, boilers, lifts, fire alarms, BMS, and building fabric.
  • Respond to reactive maintenance issues and breakdowns, ensuring minimal downtime and continuity of critical services.
  • Undertake multi-skilled engineering duties, including mechanical, electrical, and general building repair work.
  • Diagnose faults using technical drawings and schematics and support the installation of new equipment and systems.
  • Work closely with the Estates team, contractors, and service managers to coordinate maintenance activities and support service delivery.
  • Participate in an on-call rota and respond to emergency maintenance situations as required.
  • Monitor plant performance, complete maintenance records, and help improve maintenance procedures and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with Health & Safety, COSHH, Permit to Work, and statutory requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to apprentices, trainees, and colleagues while maintaining professional development and up-to-date technical knowledge.

What You Bring

  • Qualified or knowledgeable in Mechanical and Electrical Building Services, with significant (5 years) engineering experience in healthcare or a similar environment.
  • Skilled in carrying out multi-disciplinary maintenance activities across mechanical, electrical, and building services.
  • Strong ability to diagnose issues, analyse problems, and provide effective technical solutions.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads, work independently, and support the coordination of others.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to liaise confidently with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working within a building maintenance environment, including basic supervision of contractors and an understanding of asset lifecycle management.
  • Good working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, maintenance procedures, and client-focused service delivery.
  • Desirable qualifications and experience include HNC/HND level education, leadership skills, report writing, PDA systems experience, knowledge of HTMs, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
