  • The role is predominantly Monday to Friday, with a rotating schedule every 2–3 weeks:
    • Early: 07:00–16:00
    • Middle: 08:00–17:00
    • Late: 10:00–19:00
  • There may also be a requirement to work one Saturday per month as part of the rota.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team at our prestigious corporate site in London.

Working within a professional client environment, you will be responsible for delivering planned and reactive mechanical maintenance, ensuring building systems and assets are safe, compliant and operating effectively.

This is a hands-on role where you'll use your mechanical engineering expertise to diagnose faults, carry out repairs and routine maintenance, and support minor works and asset replacements. You'll also have the opportunity to work alongside and support apprentices while building strong relationships with both the client and wider engineering team.

As a Mechanical Engineer you'll:

  • Carry out planned, reactive and statutory mechanical maintenance across the site.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs within your technical capability.
  • Undertake routine maintenance to ensure mechanical systems and assets meet relevant legislation, regulations and best-practice standards.
  • Complete like-for-like asset replacements and minor mechanical works as required.
  • Respond to emergency call-outs and provide engineering support outside normal working hours when required.
  • Complete risk assessments and follow safe systems of work for all maintenance activities.
  • Manage reactive tasks and planned maintenance to meet agreed service levels and deadlines.
  • Supervise and coordinate specialist subcontractors where required.
  • Keep accurate records of work completed, time taken and materials used.
  • Maintain tools, equipment and PPE in good working condition.
  • Keep up to date with relevant legislation, engineering standards and industry best practice.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with the client, customers and wider engineering team.
  • Provide guidance and support to apprentices.
  • Identify opportunities to work efficiently and understand the cost and benefit of maintenance activities.
  • Consider sustainability and the environmental impact of engineering activities.
  • Complete all required training and competency assessments.

What we're looking for

We're looking for a mechanically qualified engineer who is practical, reliable and confident working independently within a technical maintenance environment.

You will ideally have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • Around 2 years' relevant mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Practical experience working in a technical maintenance environment.
  • Good knowledge of mechanical engineering compliance, standards and best practice.
  • Experience diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out repairs.
  • A strong understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Experience working with safe systems of work, risk assessments and established procedures.
  • The ability to plan and manage your own workload and meet deadlines.
  • A systematic and methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Good IT skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • An understanding of helpdesk processes and maintenance workflow.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with customers, colleagues and contractors.
