Lead Electrical Technician

Location: London, WC2H 8NU

Salary: £55,000 plus £5100 in weekend and callout bonus

Contract: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (two Saturdays a month)

Shifts: Early - 7am-4pm, Late - 1pm-10pm

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Technician to join our static Technical Services team within a high-profile, business-critical environment. This is a hands-on supervisory role, combining strong electrical technical expertise with day-to-day leadership responsibility. You will act as the site’s electrical lead, ensuring all electrical systems, critical power infrastructure and building controls are operated, maintained and enhanced in line with the highest standards of safety, compliance and operational resilience.

Reporting to the Technical Services Supervisor, you will take ownership of the delivery of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive electrical works, carried out by in-house engineers and specialist subcontractors. The role plays a vital part in maintaining business continuity within an environment where electrical reliability and uptime are paramount.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the Lead Electrical Engineer on site, providing expert technical guidance and oversight
  • Deliver and oversee PPM and reactive maintenance in line with SFG20, OEM guidance and statutory regulations
  • Lead statutory inspections and compliance activities including EICRs, emergency lighting and PAT testing
  • Diagnose and resolve complex electrical faults, escalating risks proactively
  • Manage LV systems, emergency power infrastructure, UPS and generators
  • Ensure strict adherence to Safe Systems of Work, including RAMS, LOTO, permits and isolations
  • Supervise subcontractors and quality-assure all electrical works
  • Maintain accurate technical records and update CMMS systems (e.g. Archibus)
  • Deputise for the Technical Services Supervisor as required
  • Participate in emergency and out-of-hours escalation response when needed
  • Mentor and support the development of electrical and multi-skilled technicians
  • Support resilience upgrades, energy optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients and stakeholders

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with Electricity at Work Regulations, BS7671 and Sodexo Global Engineering Standards
  • Maintain required Authorised Person appointments and certifications
  • Promote a strong safety culture through leadership, reporting and engagement

Key Accountabilities

  • Electrical system uptime, resilience and reliability
  • Statutory compliance and health & safety assurance
  • High-quality delivery of maintenance and reactive works
  • Leadership, mentoring and performance of the engineering team
  • Clear communication and strong client relationships

About You

You are a confident electrical professional with strong leadership capability and a compliance-focused mindset. You thrive in critical or commercial environments and are comfortable taking ownership of electrical performance and safety.

Essential:

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation or similar
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in building services FM or critical environments
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capability
  • Excellent knowledge of health & safety procedures (LOTO, permits, isolations)
  • IT literate with experience of CMMS and Microsoft Office
