Join our dedicated Estates team at Central Manchester Hospital as a Mechanical Junior Estates Officer and play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of engineering excellence across our healthcare facilities.
This dynamic leadership position offers the opportunity to manage a diverse, multi disciplinary maintenance department committed to delivering reliable, compliant, and high performance engineering services. You will oversee complex plant and equipment, including steam systems, lifts, ventilation, and water services, ensuring their optimal operation and compliance with industry standards and legislation.
If you possess a strong background in mechanical engineering, experience with planned maintenance programs, and a passion for supporting healthcare through exceptional facilities management, this is your chance to make a meaningful impact in a challenging and rewarding environment.
Develop and oversee a robust Planned Preventative Maintenance system, ensuring all engineering plant, equipment, and services are properly documented and maintained.
Liaise effectively with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery of maintenance, upgrades, and repair works.
Act as the Authorised Person/Responsible Person for statutory obligations related to medical gases, lifts, pressure systems, fuel, confined spaces, and HVAC.
Monitor and enforce compliance with legislation, regulations, and safe working practices across all engineering activities.
Participate in out of hours on call duties and maintain excellent working relationships with Trust staff and management.
Support contract management activities, including preparation of documentation, tendering, and ensuring contractor performance meets standards.
Experience in the maintenance of all mechanical elements of buildings.
Experience in the line management of staff .
Experience in the management of contracts and contractors.
Have a working knowledge of all Health and Safety legislation affecting their work
Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write reports.
Ability to manage, prioritise and plan own workload and deliver work within required time scales
