Unit Manager (Catering)

Job Introduction

As a Unit Manager (Catering), you play a pivotal role in ensuring the prompt and efficient delivery of Catering and Vending services to our company's standards and the satisfaction of our clients. You'll also oversee the cleanliness and hygiene of the unit to meet required standards outlined in the Service Level Agreement.

What you’ll do:
  • Plan, prepare, and present all Catering and Vending services on time, meeting service level agreements and ensuring client, customer, and Sodexo satisfaction.
  • Manage special dietary requirements, with particular attention to allergens.
  • Monitor the financial performance of the unit to meet pre-budgeted targets.
  • Train and manage line staff, conducting performance reviews and providing coaching as necessary.
  • Enforce staff discipline procedures and maintain records of any disciplinary issues, liaising with the account manager and HR as needed.
  • Ensure correct compilation of payroll and adherence to statutory regulations and company policies concerning staff.
  • Control purchasing and inventory in accordance with Sodexo suppliers.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the unit.
  • Complete due diligence records in line with food safety policies.
  • Organize hospitality catering as required, potentially outside of normal working hours.
  • Ensure maximum security of kitchen, store, office, safe, and monetary assets.
  • Assist in other establishments when necessary and attend meetings or training courses as requested.
  • Support and assist the Assistant Account Manager in managing all Sodexo services on-site, covering holidays and sickness.
What you bring:
  • NVQ chef qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience in catering management and team management.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Experience delivering training using company guidelines.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Strong financial acumen.
  • Leadership skills to develop individual effectiveness through motivation, communication, coaching, and training.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with customers, clients, and staff at all levels.
  • Ability to set and achieve standards, particularly regarding hygiene.
  • Self-motivated with a sense of initiative.
  • Team player with a flexible approach to the role.
