Build a name with big-brand businesses and corporate clients, delivering high-quality nutritious meals for boardroom lunches, executive events, and daily workplace dining. This role calls for a chef who can blend maintaining excellent standards, while working efficiently in a fast-paced, trend-setting, client-focused environment. 

What you'll do: 

  • Assist the Head Chef in planning, preparing, cooking, and presenting high-standard food
  • Support all catering sections: retail, deli, kitchen, vending, hospitality, and café
  • Contribute to menu development with innovative ideas aligned with Sodexo’s Culinary DRIVE System
  • Help maintain the company’s reputation for excellent food and service
  • Control portion sizes and monitor waste for efficiency
  • Support weekly stock takes and report shortages to the Operations Manager
  • Ensure proper stock management, ordering, and food rotation
  • Maintain accurate records of food production and supplier info
  • Help create appealing monthly menus and themed offers within budget
  • Uphold Health & Safety and Food Safety standards
  • Step in to manage kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef
  • Assist in achieving budget targets and food GP%
  • Maintain EHO 5-star Food Hygiene status
  • Support customer service and assist FOH team when needed
  • Present a smart, professional appearance and lead by example
  • Maintain tidy, clean work practices
  • Report to the Head Chef; in their absence, escalate to the Operations Manager and Site GSM
  • Note: Sous Chef responsibilities may evolve with business needs

What you'll bring: 

  • Passionate about food with knowledge of current food trends; able to incorporate trends into the business
  • Good secondary education
  • NVQ or Equivalent in catering plus Level 3 Food Hygiene Certification
  • Strong craft skills background
  • Successful and progressive experience in B&I contract or high street commercial restaurant catering
  • Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Proven supervisory experience
  • Demonstrates genuine passion for food and customer service
  • Strong financial acumen, including menu, event, and function costing
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Word and Excel
