Prison Offender Manager

Job Introduction

HMP Forest Bank are currently recruiting for a Prison Offender Management Administrator.

As an administrator you will assist in the Initial interview, risk and needs assessment of new receptions into custody.  We are looking for someone with the ability and enthusiasm to promote change and motivate residents  and who has strong administration background.

HMP Forest Bank serves the courts of Greater Manchester and maintains strong links to the local community with a focus on resettlement. We aim to deliver quality of life services and support people to change their lives for the better.

Opportunities for learning and developing work-ready skills are on offer for all who come in to custody, but our commitment to reducing reoffending in local communities does not end at the prison gate. We support people released from custody through innovative partnerships in substance misuse services in Bury and Oldham, working with people to maintain recovery and lead law-abiding lives.

As well as the 16 residential units on site, there is a healthcare centre, gym, library, workshop complex, visits hall, chaplaincy and kitchen. The prison’s capacity stands at 1,460, holding adult men both on remand or sentenced and young prisoners between the ages of 18-21 years.

Role Responsibility

  • Provide accurate information on all OASys assessments. 

  • Participate in the Parole process / Oral Hearings as the assigned Prison Offender Manager. 

  • Provide clear and accurate risk information / assessments on request. 

  • Provide relevant risk and compliance information via NOMIS for the purpose of re-categorisation via the digital categorisation process. 

  • 1:1 motivational work, support, and risk management to address offending behaviour. 

  • Support and link with the allocated keyworkers in relation to caseload. 

  • Facilitate a multi-disciplinary sentence planning meeting in relation to resettlement support and risk management planning outlining relevant risk work requirements. 

  • Maintain regular links with relevant agencies in line with the current Offender Management Model: National Probation Service, and GMP for the robust risk management of offenders. 

  • Provide relevant information for those Resident’s subject to MAPPA arrangements on release. (Provide Prison Representation to meetings where possible) 

  • Complete relevant referrals for programmes / courses to address offending behaviour and level of risk. 

  • Support OMU in maintaining a high standard of work currently achieved in core delivery as below:  

  • Basic Custody Screening Tool (BCST)  

  • Delivery of recall packs within specified time frames in line with current PPCS recalls and review guidelines. 

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Experience working in a similar environment or role
  • Able to operate relevant IT applications
  • Experience of working under pressure and to deadlines
  • Able to manage competing work priorities
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Positive relationships with colleagues across the prison
  • The ability and enthusiasm to promote change and motivate residents
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to personal development and ability to adapt to change.
  • Proficiency in the use of IT including Microsoft Word, NOMIS and Excel
  • The ability to manage, organise and prioritise workloads

Package Description

£22,000 - £24,500 depending on experience

Post holders will be subjected to an advanced DBS check, a prison security check (level 2) prior to being employed.
