Package Description:

 

  • £29,638.84 for 0 - 1 year service - Salary is made up of base salary of £26,732.95 and a market forces allowance of £2905.89 (242.11 per month). 
  • £30,805.55 for 1 - 2 years’ service - After 13 months this increases to base salary of £27,453.32 and a market forces allowance of £3352.23 (£279.35 per month) + pension + benefits.
  • £31,451.25 for 2 - 4 years’ service.
  • £33,798.48 for 4 years + service.

Recruitment process:


  • Full completion of application form on Sodexo careers website by 31/03/2024.
  • Interviews: W/C TBC
  • Start Date of course:27/05/2024 (You will be required to complete a mandatory 8-week training course. No annual leave can be taken during this period.) The training will be Monday to Friday.

Our eight-week training program will get you up to speed and equip you with the tools to do your job. This is where you’ll develop the necessary skills to work independently as a PCO. From shadowing more experienced colleagues, to understanding how to deal with conflict, you’ll be ready and prepared for every day going forward.

Post holders will be susceptible to HMPPS security vetting checks to Enhanced Level 2 prior to being employed.

 

Main Responsibilities: 


You might be working on a main wing with a team of other PCOs responsible for prisoners.  Your role will involve everything from managing the regular prison routines, (locking & unlocking, supervising meals and recreation time to escorting people to prison work and education). You’ll need to deal with the more challenging aspects of prison life such as abusive and violent behaviour. You’ll be working with all sorts of prisoners including those on long sentences, people convicted of serious crime and vulnerable individuals.
