HMP Forest Bank is effectively a town in its own right with a Hospital, School, Canteen and mini-Factory on site.  The Maintenance team sit at the very heart of the operation-supporting every aspect of daily operations from planned and reactive maintenance tasks across a wide range of equipment ranging from lighting to pumping stations.

Role Responsibility

• Carrying out repairs and preventative maintenance to all plumbing, heating and Ventilation, hot & cold water mechanical systems.
• Maintain accurate records of all preventative maintenance and repair work carried out and report any substandard or defective equipment.
• Perform scheduled maintenance service on plumbing systems and fixtures
• Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance meet the requirements of the appropriate codes
• Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance meet environmental protection requirements
• Escort specialist contractors and work beside them as required.
• All work to be carried out to the relevant trade standards
• Ensure Health and Safety policies are adhered to at all times.
• Undertake duties, as required, that contribute to the effective operation of the prison.
• Work in accordance to Sodexo’s policies and procedures

The Ideal Candidate

• High level of inter personal skills.
• Must have served a recognized apprenticeship and obtained Level 3 City & Guilds 6035 / NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing.
• Completed ACOP L8 in Legionella awareness and have previous experience in an AP role.
• Have a proactive approach to Health and Safety.
• Ability to perform tasks alone or in a team to a high standard without constant supervision.
• Proactive, systematic approach to tasks
• Experience maintaining a range of equipment
• Willingness to tackle a wide range of day to day activities from complex to simple tasks without standing on ceremony
• Understanding of health and safety regulations

Personality and attitude are at least as important as experience however – thus we need a calm, open and flexible Plumber with the willingness to tackle every task with enthusiasm and build relationships with colleagues across the Prison.

£24,502 plus on-call allowances, over-time and excellent benefits including free meals and parking, group discount schemes and pension
