Job Title: General Kitchen Assistant
Location: Heart of England School, Gipsy Lane, Balsall Common, Coventry, CV7 7FW

Join Sodexo and become part of a team that makes a real difference every day. We are seeking an experienced and motivated General Kitchen Assistant to support our busy school catering operation. This role plays a key part in delivering an exceptional food service experience for pupils and staff—without the need for late nights, weekends, or public holiday work, including Christmas.

As an General Kitchen Assistant , you will contribute to the smooth and efficient running of our kitchen and service areas. From preparing and presenting food to maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety, you will help ensure we deliver a service we are proud of.

What you do:

  • Assist with the preparation of high-quality meals for pupils and staff.

  • Maintain clean, well-organised, and hygienic kitchen and service areas.

  • Support the receiving, loading, and unloading of deliveries.

  • Adhere to all food handling, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.

  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and correctly.

  • Represent Sodexo with professionalism, contributing to a positive team environment and service reputation.

What you bring:

  • Works well as part of a team.

  • Demonstrates an organised, reliable, and proactive approach to work.

  • Can prioritise tasks effectively and stay calm under pressure.

  • Communicates confidently and professionally with colleagues and customers.

  • Has previous catering or hospitality experience (desirable but not essential).

Package Description

A role that fits your life - and your family

  • £12.21 per hour
  • 20 hours per week
  • Working pattern: Monday - Friday, (10:45am- 14:45pm)
  • Term Time only (39 week Working Contract paid over 52 weeks**
  • Catering Experience required

**Equated pay (sometimes known as spread-over pay) is a method of paying you for your contracted hours, working weeks and holiday pay spread over 12 months instead of just receiving pay during the months that you work and none during the school closures/non-working weeks. This means that you get paid equal amounts of pay every month. Further information will be supplied at interview stage.**
