We currently have an opportunity for a Bar Steward to join our amazing team! You’ll serve a range of finely crafted drinks, replenish stock and always ensure your work areas are glistening!

Being a team player is important, but you’ll also be working on your own! Previous experience in a similar role would be ideal, but if you have great people skills, we’d love to hear from you! 

As Sodexo embeds a strong safety culture in everything we do, it is vital that you follow all Health and Safety Regulations. 

Site security clearance is required for this role.  

Role Responsibility

1.         To ensure high standards of personal hygiene and appearance by wearing the appropriate uniform.  Conduct must remain professional at all times.

2.         To provide a professional service of all wines, spirits, beers and other associated products to the customers using the service ensuring accurate measures.  Waiting time for customers should be kept to a minimum.

3.         To ensure the bar operation meets the requirements of the Client, as directed by the Mess Manager, and is in line with Company Quality Procedures.  Take responsibility for all stock, cash and chits during shifts ensuring they are controlled at all times.  Quality Procedures appertaining to security must be followed and also those referring to administrational and cash handling procedures.

4.         To complete consolidation sheets at the end of each shift, identifying cash and chit totals.  The Line Manager/Bar Manager must be made aware before the next shift if there is a discrepancy.

  1. To follow the cleaning rota to ensure all bar/cellar furnishings and fittings are kept up to standard with adherence to COSHH guidelines and safe methods of work at all times.
  2. Clear all dirty glasses, crockery and cutlery, etc from the bar and associated areas.  Keep ashtrays replaced and tables wiped.
  3. To assist Mess Manager/Supervisor with a bar stock-check as required and follow order monitoring procedures in place to ensure replacement orders are made.  If orders are delivered during the shift the delivery must be checked in, following Quality Procedures laid down, and discrepancies/problems identified to the Mess Manager immediately.

8.       To take part in functions, as required by the Mess Manager, either in the role of Wine Waiter for formal functions or the running temporary of bars.

9.         To assemble orders for glasses, liquor, minerals, etc which are going out, as directed by Line Supervisor/Mess Manager, ensuring a 1033 or liquor order form is completed, whichever is appropriate.  If receiving goods back in, ensure returned equipment is checked against the 1033 or returned stock is identified on the liquor order sheet so consumption can be charged.

10.      To carry out cellar duties as directed by the Line Supervisor/Manager to include changing barrels, pipe cleaning, stocking up, etc.

11.      To report any defective equipment or stock identified on the shift to the appropriate person immediately.

To continue to develop one’s own skills and knowledge within the position.
