Please note: This role involves lone working. Due to health and safety and safeguarding requirements, applicants must be aged 18 or over.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Food Service Assistant, you'll be helping to create a positive dining experience for students, staff and visitors by:
- Supporting the preparation and service of fresh, high-quality food
- Presenting food attractively and serving it to the highest standards
- Assisting with basic food preparation and day-to-day kitchen operations
- Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness, food safety and hygiene
- Receiving deliveries and ensuring stock is stored and rotated correctly
- Providing a warm, professional and welcoming customer experience
- Supporting school events, hospitality functions and special occasions
- Assisting with portion control and helping to minimise food waste
- Working closely with colleagues to ensure smooth service throughout the day
- Sharing ideas that help improve service standards and enhance the dining experience
What We're Looking For

You'll Ideally Have
- A positive, can-do attitude
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Good organisation and attention to detail
- The ability to work well in a busy environment
- A reliable and flexible approach
- A commitment to maintaining high standards
- Previous experience in catering, hospitality or food service (desirable but not essential)
- A Food Hygiene Certificate (advantageous, although full training can be provided)
- An Enhanced DBS check will be required for all successful applicants.
