Job Introduction

This job puts good food on the table.

As a Food ServiceAssistant at Sodexo in Ipswich Hospital, you’ll play an important part inpreparing and serving nutritious, comforting meals that support patientrecovery and wellbeing. You’ll also helpmaintain a clean, safe environment in the kitchen and dining areas. With a cheerfulattitude and great customer service, your presence can make a real differencein someone’s day. What you’ll do:

• Prepare, assemble, and deliver patient meals and refreshments safely, accurately, and on time, ensuring dietary needs and allergies are followed.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, infection control, and cleanliness across ward kitchens, equipment, crockery, and utensils.
• Provide a friendly, courteous, and professional service to patients, visitors, and ward staff, supporting patient comfort and satisfaction.
• Manage stock control, food wastage monitoring, documentation, audits, and compliance with all legal, company, and quality standards.
• Work effectively as part of the ward and catering team, reporting issues, equipment faults, and delays while following all policies and safety procedures.

What you bring:

• A passion for delivering tasty, nutritious food with care
• Previous experience working within a similar role
• A friendly, professional attitude and respect for patients, visitors, and colleagues
• Basic food-handling knowledge and hygiene awareness, Level 2 food hygiene
• The ability to stay on your feet and work efficiently during busy service periods
