Job Introduction

We are looking for an experienced Engineer to join our team at HMRC. You will support the delivery of planned and reactive multi-disciplinary building services maintenance, ensuring systems and equipment are maintained safely, efficiently and in line with relevant regulations and standards.

The role will also involve minor new works, asset replacements and supporting the development of apprentices within the team.

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on building services assets within your technical capability.
  • Complete planned and reactive maintenance to the required standards.
  • Carry out like-for-like asset replacements and minor new works.
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with relevant regulations, engineering standards and best practice.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with clients, customers and colleagues.
  • Support and mentor trade apprentices.
  • Manage and plan your own workload to meet agreed deadlines.
  • Follow safe systems of work, Health & Safety procedures and site requirements.
  • Use maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office applications to record and manage work.
  • Follow helpdesk procedures and workflow requirements.
  • Consider cost, efficiency and sustainability when carrying out tasks.

What You Bring

  • Approximately 5 years' experience working as a Technician in a technical maintenance environment.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Practical engineering and building services experience.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering compliance, standards and best practice.
  • Experience working independently within a technical maintenance environment.
  • Experience working to Health & Safety standards and safe systems of work.
  • Building Services competence with NVQ Level 4 or equivalent qualifications.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • The ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to self-manage your workload.
  • The capability and willingness to fulfil an Authorised Person / Responsible Person role.
