What You Will Do

  • Prepare and cook high‑quality dishes, ensuring every meal is delivered to an excellent standard and served at the correct temperature.
  • Support the Head Chef and wider team with daily food preparation, maintaining smooth service during busy, high‑volume periods.
  • Receive and check deliveries, store ingredients correctly, and follow stock rotation procedures (including FIFO) to maintain freshness and reduce waste.
  • Maintain exceptional hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety standards in line with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with your team to create a positive, supportive kitchen environment for both colleagues and the school community.
  • Assist with school events, themed days, and special functions, which may occasionally fall outside normal working hours.
  • Provide a friendly, professional, and approachable service to students, staff, and visitors.
  • Follow portion control guidelines and support sustainable, cost‑effective catering practices.
  • Contribute ideas for menu improvements, service enhancements, and ways to elevate the overall dining experience.

What You Bring

  • A passion for cooking and a positive, can‑do attitude within a professional kitchen environment.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with confidence managing your section during high‑volume service.
  • The ability to work well under pressure while maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness, food safety, and attention to detail.
  • A proactive, reliable approach and willingness to learn, develop, and contribute creative ideas.
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Chef de Partie or similar role is essential; experience in school or contract catering is advantageous.
  • An Enhanced DBS check will be completed for this role.
