As a Building Services Multiskilled Technician you'll

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of building services and engineering assets.
  • Diagnose faults and complete repairs safely and efficiently within your technical capabilities.
  • Undertake routine maintenance, inspections and servicing to ensure building systems remain safe, compliant and operational.
  • Carry out like-for-like asset replacements and support minor installation and new works as required.
  • Respond to reactive maintenance requests, prioritising work to meet agreed service levels and deadlines.
  • Complete appropriate risk assessments and safe systems of work before undertaking maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant statutory requirements, Health & Safety legislation, engineering standards and industry best practice.
  • Support and supervise specialist subcontractors while they are carrying out works on site.
  • Participate in the emergency call-out rota, attending site out of hours when engineering support is required.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, including time spent, materials used and any follow-up actions required.
  • Use computerised maintenance management systems to update jobs and maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Maintain tools, equipment and PPE in a safe and serviceable condition.
  • Build positive working relationships with customers, colleagues, contractors and other site stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and practical support to apprentices where required.
  • Consider cost, efficiency and sustainability when carrying out maintenance and repair activities.
  • Complete required training and competency assessments to maintain and develop your technical skills.

What we're looking for

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical or equivalent – essential.
  • 18th Edition qualification – essential.
  • Around 2 years' relevant engineering/building services maintenance experience.
  • Practical electrical engineering and fault-finding skills.
  • Experience working independently within a technical maintenance or building services environment.
  • A good understanding of engineering compliance, regulations and industry best practice.
  • Experience working with safe systems of work, risk assessments and Health & Safety procedures.
  • The ability to diagnose faults and determine appropriate solutions within your level of competence.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to plan and manage your own workload.
  • The ability to prioritise planned and reactive maintenance to meet deadlines.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and experience using a CMMS.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • A proactive, resourceful and resilient approach to problem-solving.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
  • Flexibility to participate in out-of-hours emergency call-outs when required.
