This role calls for a chef who can blend maintaining excellent standards, while working efficiently in a fast-paced, trend-setting, client-focused environment.

What you'll do

  • Prepare, cook and serve a high-quality breakfast service, ensuring food is presented to an excellent standard.
  • Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the kitchen during weekend breakfast service.
  • Deliver a friendly and professional service, creating a positive experience for customers.
  • Prepare food for breakfast service and support with preparation for the wider weekly catering operation.
  • Maintain consistently high standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Manage food orders, stock levels, stock rotation and support stock takes to minimise waste and control costs.
  • Ensure allergen information, due diligence and food safety documentation is completed accurately and kept up to date.
  • Follow all requirements relating to allergens, PPDS, Food Safety, Health & Safety and COSHH.
  • Ensure food production and portion control are effectively managed to support food costs and profitability.
  • Make sure catering equipment is used safely, reporting any faults and removing unsafe equipment from use.
  • Deal professionally with customer enquiries and feedback, taking action where possible to provide a great service.
  • Support and guide catering colleagues during service, delegating tasks where appropriate to keep the kitchen running smoothly.
  • Follow approved purchasing procedures and ensure food and supplies are ordered through nominated suppliers.
  • Complete required catering administration and food production records accurately.
  • Help maintain a safe, secure, clean and organised kitchen at all times.

What you'll bring

  • Previous experience working as a Chef within a busy catering or food service environment.
  • Experience preparing and delivering a high-quality breakfast service.
  • A passion for food and producing consistently high-quality dishes.
  • The confidence to take responsibility for a kitchen and service while working effectively with the wider catering team.
  • The ability to work at pace and remain organised during busy service periods.
  • Good knowledge of food safety, food hygiene and allergen controls, including an understanding of PPDS requirements.
  • An understanding of stock control, food costs, waste management and portion control.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise your workload.
  • Great customer service and communication skills.
  • A proactive approach and the confidence to make decisions when required.
  • High standards of personal hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen organisation.
  • An understanding of Health & Safety and COSHH requirements within a kitchen environment.
  • A team-focused attitude with the willingness to support colleagues across the catering operation.
  • Flexibility to meet the needs of the service, particularly for weekend breakfast service.
