Are you passionate about providing pastoral care, spiritual guidance, and supporting rehabilitation? HMP Forest Bank is seeking a dedicated Anglican Chaplain to join our multi-faith Chaplaincy Team on a part-time basis.

At HMP Forest Bank, we are committed to supporting people in custody to make positive changes in their lives. Serving the courts of Greater Manchester, we maintain strong links with local communities and focus on rehabilitation, resettlement, and reducing reoffending.

About the Role

As an Anglican Chaplain, you will play a vital role in ensuring the diverse religious and spiritual needs of prisoners and staff are met. Working collaboratively within a multi-faith environment, you will:

  • Support and facilitate religious faith and practice within the prison community.
  • Provide pastoral care and spiritual guidance to prisoners and staff.
  • Help create a caring and supportive environment where individuals can explore and practise their faith.
  • Facilitate religious services, prayers, and faith-based teaching.
  • Support prisoners of all faiths and none, promoting respect, understanding, and inclusion.
  • Participate in chaplaincy and establishment meetings as required.
  • Undertake general chaplaincy duties, including supporting new receptions, healthcare visits, and prisoners in separation units.
  • Build and maintain links with local faith communities and encourage their involvement in prisoner rehabilitation.
  • Assist prisoners in preparing for release and reintegration into society.
  • Promote peace, cooperation, and mutual respect between different faith groups.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working in a chaplaincy, ministry, or similar pastoral care role.
  • Holds the necessary recognition and endorsement from Anglican faith authorities.
  • Demonstrates a genuine commitment to working within a diverse, multi-faith environment.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Has proven experience providing pastoral support, including during crisis situations.
  • Is confident in appropriately challenging unacceptable behaviour when necessary.
  • Is self-motivated, resilient, and committed to supporting positive change.
