Catering Manager (Defence site)

Job Introduction

Are you an experienced caterng professional who enjoys both a leadership and 'hands on' role? 

By joining our team you get the opportunity to run a unique catering function with the added bonus of not having to work regular unsocial hours such as frequent split shifts, weekends and evenings Our role offers you this with the core hours being Monday to Friday with some evening and weekends when necessary to support/oversee the team during major functions

Sodexo has been working in partnership with the Ministry of Defence since 1986 and provide a range of defence business services to support British servicemen and women serving in the United Kingdom and overseas.  Through our ongoing relationship we have an insight into the defence market as well as understand the needs of the clients and personnel we serve.

This is an exciting opportunity to enhance your career as a Catering Manager. With excellent team management skills, commercial acumen and a passion for great food and customer service, you will oversee the catering operation for Claro Barracks, a military site in Ripon.

Role Responsibility

  • Lead the delivery of food services on site, including catering, retail and hospitality.
  • Oversee and at times step in to support the team to deliver a efficient and high quality service to our customers
  • Ensure the operation is modelled on a “five star” service provision with a focus on providing a high level of customer care
  • Develop and embrace the “one team” culture across all service provision on-site and the directly provided by Sodexo on-site
  • Nurture client relationships in order to develop them for a long term partnership.
  • Develop the service model on an on-going basis to enhance service delivery.
  • Actively enforce relevant statutory, company and site H&S compliance together with the monitoring of related equipment.
  • Organise and prepare any special functions which may sometimes be outside of normal working hours.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in managing and leading a catering or food retail operation and leading a team
  • Industry acumen and knowledge of external development & innovations
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong financial understanding and demonstrable budgeting management.
  • Experience in adhering to and driving company initiatives.
  • Excellent eye for detail and passion for the services industry
  • Experience of working with the military is highly desirable

 

Package Description

£21,008 to 21,638 DOE plus benefits including bonus, pension, very popular group discount schemes, option to buy additional flexible benefits such as holidays, healthcare etc
