Job Introduction

Help Serve More Than Just Food—Serve Comfort, Care, and a Smile

Join our team at Brighton Nuffield Hospital as a Ward Host, where you'll play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient and visitor care. You’ll assist in preparing and presenting nutritious, hygienic meals with attention to safety and quality. Working closely with the ward team, you'll ensure timely assembly of patient trays and provide courteous, high quality service throughout the day. What You’ll Do

  • Ensure all patient and visitor refreshment orders are taken accurately, with allergies and dietary requirements clearly communicated and recorded
  • Transport and deliver food and refreshments in a timely, hygienic manner, providing assistance to patients as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of crockery, cutlery, trays, equipment, and the ward kitchen, reporting any issues or malfunctions
  • Monitor stock levels, rotation, and wastage, ensuring proper record keeping and efficient resource use
  • Follow all policies, procedures, and safety guidelines, including Infection Prevention and Control, to ensure a safe environment
  • Communicate professionally, politely, and tactfully with patients, visitors, and colleagues, resolving issues effectively
  • Complete all required documentation, audits, and quality standards within designated timeframes

What You Bring

  • Previous experience in similar role
  • Excellent craft and presentation skills
  • Good communication and literacy skills
  • Good customer focus with attention to detail
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
