Hours: Monday to Friday 6:00-14:30

We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Laboratory Support Operative to deliver day-to-day laboratory support services to scientific groups onsite.

This role is essential in ensuring laboratory environments are maintained to the highest regulatory and safety standards, enabling scientists to operate efficiently and safely. You will also act as an ambassador for Sodexo, promoting excellence in service delivery across campus.

Role Purpose

  • Provide high-quality laboratory cleaning and support services to scientific teams.
  • Deliver services in line with SOPs, GxP/GMP standards, and safety regulations.
  • Build strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the laboratory support service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver scheduled laboratory cleaning in accordance with Sodexo’s service scope.
  • Ensure compliance with the Zero Harm Mindset Model, 3 Checks for Safety, and GSK 12 Life Saving Rules at all times.
  • Carry out cleaning duties in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including:
    • Replenishing consumables
    • Emptying laboratory hand wash bins
    • Low-level dusting
    • Sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing floors
    • Dusting laboratory benches
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment (e.g., floor scrubbers), ensuring full competency and training compliance.
  • Clean laboratories in accordance with relevant GxP and non-GxP procedures.
  • Complete all GxP and non-GxP documentation accurately in line with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Follow strict access and egress procedures across laboratory areas.
  • Complete all mandatory MyLearning / E-Learning training.
  • Manage laboratory laundry processes, including sorting and preparing items for third-party collection.
  • Report infrastructure defects via the WREF Helpdesk or as directed by your Line Manager.
  • Execute ServiceNow tickets in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and professional appearance.
  • Participate in annual Laboratory Animal Allergy (LAA) Health Surveillance checks.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by the Line Manager.

Key Accountabilities

  • Deliver excellent customer service aligned with Service Level Agreements and SOPs.
  • Maintain laboratories to required GxP standards, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Build and sustain positive working relationships with GSK stakeholders and Sodexo colleagues.
  • Operate fully within Sodexo and GSK safety guidelines.
  • Proactively report unsafe practices or risks.
  • Ensure full compliance with site rules and regulatory standards.
